What can I expect on the first day of school?


First Day for 3K is Orientation (abbreviated morning for students and parents)

Monday, August 13, 8:45-10:15am (for Miss Grant's students) and Tuesday, August 14, 8:30-10am (for Mrs. Heinemann's students)

Students and parents attend
Park in lower garage
Bring child to 3K classroom
Parents will go with Miss Grant and Mrs. Heinemann to another location
First official day for both classes is Wednesday, 8/15
The 3K teachers will prepare you with all you need to know about your child's official first day (8/15) at the orientation

First Day of School - JK

Monday, August 13

Bring child to JK classroom between 8:10-8:20am (school starts at 8:20am)
Park in lower garage or side street
If you have older children, bring them with you to Upper Playground for prayer with our teachers and school leaders.

First Day of School - SK-6th

Monday, August 13

Parking may be a challenge, so plan to arrive by 7:45am
Park in the Lower Parking Garage or side streets
Go with your child to the Upper Playground for prayer with our teachers and school leaders
Bring your child to his/her teacher’s line
Children will be dismissed with their teachers around 8:15am… Say good-bye at this time (while on the playground)
Coffee and light breakfast treats will be available in gym for parents, and administrators will be present to answer any questions or offer assistance with the website/lunch ordering/etc.

When does the school day begin and end?

Learning begins at 8:20am and ends at 3:20pm

Does Central offer Before and After Care? Is there a cost?


BeforeCare between 7:30-8:10am is free to all families.
A special early BeforeCare option at 7am is available for a limited number of students and at a cost of $5 a day. Please contact the school if this is a service you plan to take advantage of regularly, so we can ensure an appropriate teacher-student ratio.


AfterCare begins at 3:45 and ends at 5:45pm
AfterCare costs $7 per hour
Parent must sign out their child in the front office indicating the time of pick-up.
Children picked up after 4:45pm will be charged for 2 hours 

What time is best to drop off my child?

We encourage drop off at 8:10am or before to allow for children time to get to their classroom and complete their routine.

Where do I drop off my child at the beginning of the day?

Enter lower garage through south driveway from Hanley or northeast entrance/exit from the alley
Park in the lower garage and either walk your child in OR stop at the back doors (forming a single line of cars) to let child out
A teacher and sixth grade students will be present to help you and your child unload
If you arrive after 8:20am, your child (SK-6th) will need to go immediately to the office for a tardy slip 

Where and how do I pick up my child at the end of the day?

Pick-Up (Full Day Students)

Pick-up carpool runs from 3:25-3:45pm
Enter lower garage through south driveway from Hanley or northeast entrance/exit from alley
Sit in your car and proceed through parking garage in double carpool lines OR park and walk up to the back door to request your child (please note: Parents will be required to wait outside for your child to come out AND if you park in the garage, you may be stuck until carpool has ended.)

Don’t talk on cell phone
Watch teachers who will direct traffic
Once child is in car, left lane will exit to left and right lane will exit to right
If you exit to right, you will drive in front of main building and exit NORTH driveway (not south driveway)
All children who are not picked up in Carpool by 3:45pm will be checked in to After-care and charged for the first hour

Pick-Up (Half Day Students)

Pick-up carpool for half day students runs from 12:25-12:45pm (please review the above carpool reminders)
All children who are not picked up in carpool by 12:45pm will be taken to the front office

What Are the Lunch, Recess, and Snack Details?

Lunch and Recess Times

3K/JK eat in classrooms at 11:55am (hot lunch will be delivered to classroom)
2nd/3rd/4th (11:25-11:55am for lunch and 11:55am-12:15pm for recess)
SK/1st (11:55am-12:25pm for lunch and 12:25-12:45pm for recess )
5th/6th (12:25-12:50pm for lunch and 12:50-1:10pm for recess)
You may join your child for lunch or recess anytime.  Please sign-in in the office to follow visitor protocol for our children’s safety. 

How much does school lunch cost?

Hot lunch (includes milk or juice) - $4.50
Extra Entrée - $1.00
Milk or juice - $0.50
Forgotten lunch (includes milk or juice) - $5.50

Where do I order school lunches?

Every two months you will receive an email regarding school lunch ordering
You will be billed for your lunch selections on your monthly tuition statement that can found when you login, under My Students, Statement, Bill Pay and Report Cards

Please note that lunch ordering deadlines are firm. No late orders are excepted. 

Are snacks provided during the day?

Each class has a snack time during the day
3K snacks are provided by school
JK snacks are provided by school and parents sign up to bring fresh fruit each Thursday
SK-6th grade students must bring a snack from home

May I send birthday treats for my child?

Birthday treats are welcomed
Please email the teacher ahead of time to determine the best time to bring the snack and whether or not there are allergies to consider
Both store-bought or homemade are welcomed
Please be cognizant of the size of the snack given the limited time allotted for these mini-celebrations

What kind of communication should I expect from the school?

Please read any emails you receive from your teacher or the school. Make sure that these emails are not going into your junk mail.
Each week you will receive Inbox, our weekly e-newsletter containing any recent school and classroom updates. Please read each week! There is always new information.

What is the school dress-code?

You will find a more detailed explanation in your Family Handbook, so please review. Basic guidelines include:

Avoid lettering or pictures of any kind on clothing except a small logo, stripes, dots, repeating patterns
All shoes must have a closed toe and heel. Heels should be  (under one inch)
Sleeveless shirts, though permitted, must have a wide strap (no spaghetti straps without a shirt underneath)Avoid spaghetti straps
Shirts should cover the midriff with arms raised
Fingertip length or longer is a good standard of measure for length of shorts and skirts (that provide appropriate coverage)
Shorts under dresses and skirts are encouraged
If wearing leggings/jeggings/yoga pants, top should cover the bottom
Pants are too big if slipping down while running and too small if revealing underwear/bottom while sitting
Athletic clothes, though permitted, must follow all of the above guidelines
Hats may only be worn on Spirit Days
Hairstyles should not be continuously distracting to the learning of to your child or others
Weather appropriate clothing helps your child enjoy outdoor recess during each season (children play outdoors if the temperature is above 20ºF or above)
In case of an emergency, each 3K, JK, and SK student needs a complete change of labeled clothing, including underwear and socks, to keep at school at all times

What Back-to-School Events are most important for me to attend?


Meet and Greet (SK-6th) and All-School Picnic (3K-6th)

Thursday, August 9 (5pm) in Classrooms (SK-6th) and on Upper Playground (3K-6th)

SK-6th Grade classrooms will be open to meet your child's teacher, drop off school supplies, and navigate your child's new learning environment! Teachers and families will also fellowship and picnic together on the Upper Playground. 3K and JK families are welcomed and encouraged to attend the picnic portion of this event although they won’t be in the classroom.

Summit Back-to-School Night (5th/6th) and Camp/Retreat Info Meeting
