Athletics

As a Christian school, Central strives to provide a variety of opportunities for students to grow and mature into their God-given potential. The athletic program is an integral part of this goal as well. In recognizing the broad diversity of children, our desire is to teach all students a life-long love of sports and physical activity, equipping them for a life of service to God. In athletics, we emphasize character-building, good sportsmanship, respect for authority, teamwork, self-discipline, and improving individual and team skills.

Physical Education

All full-day Junior Kindergarten through 6th grade students participate in our physical education classes.

After a year of learning, our Senior Kindergarten through 6th grade students look forward to Field Day, traditionally held the last month of school. Students participate in individual, competitive running events, as well as class relays. Plus, they participate in fun games and activities including a sack races, three legged race, tug of war, and more.  Each station is manned by parent volunteers.

Extra-Curricular Sports

We also provide an outlet for children who excel in athletics through extra-curricular team sports.  We aim for all students to receive equal playing time as they improve their skills and compete in a God-honoring way.  As in all our endeavors, our ultimate purpose is to bring glory and honor to God by giving our best effort in all we do, focusing more on process than accomplishments.

Students in Senior Kindergarten through 6th grade may play on a grade-level soccer, basketball, baseball, and/or softball team. Our school participates in the Clayton League for soccer, baseball, softball and in the Kirkwood Junior League for basketball. Practices are held once weekly, and games are on Saturdays. All teams are coached by parent volunteers and uniforms are provided by the athletic department. While there is a cap to each team roster, children outside our school community (homeschoolers or those attending other schools) are given an opportunity to join our teams once Central students have had an opportunity to register on time.
