As a Christian school, Central strives to provide a variety of opportunities for students to grow and mature into their God-given potential.  The athletic program is an integral part of this goal as well.  In recognizing the broad diversity of children, our desire is to teach all students life-long habits of physical fitness, equipping them for a life of service to God.  In athletics, we emphasize character-building, good sportsmanship, respect for authority, team work, self-discipline, and improving individual and team skills.

All full-day Junior Kindergarten through 6th grade students participate in our physical education classes.

First through sixth graders participate in the Presidential Physical Fitness Test each spring.  Our P.E. teacher Scott Schneider prepares students throughout the school year by practicing different events that will measure a child's fitness level.  From running to sit-ups and more, boys and girls are taught the importance of being healthy and fit beyond Central.

All SK through 6th grade students look forward to Field Day, traditionally held the last month of school.  The morning consists of individual, competitive running events, as well as class relays.  The afternoon offers fun games and activities including a sack race, egg relay race, limbo, and more.  Each station is manned by parent volunteers.

We also provide an outlet for children who excel in athletics through extra-curricular team sports.  We aim for all students to receive equal playing time as they improve their skills and compete in a God-honoring way.  As in all our endeavors, our ultimate purpose is to bring glory and honor to God by giving our best effort in all we do, focusing more on process than accomplishments.

Students in SK through 6th grade may play on a grade-level soccer, basketball, baseball, and/or softball team.  JK students may participate on a soccer and T-ball team.  Our school participates in the Clayton League (soccer, baseball, softball) and the Kirkwood League (basketball).   Practices are held weekly, and games are on Saturdays.  All teams are coached by parent volunteers.  While there is a cap to each team roster, children outside our school community (homeschoolers or those attending other schools) are given an opportunity to join our teams once Central students have completed registration.
