Technology Integration

We use technology as creators, not consumers.

At Central, technology is a tool that supports and enhances learning; it's never a replacement for it. We use it to foster student growth by inspiring creativity, empowering student voice, and providing differentiation and accommodations.

In alignment with our mission, we use technology to cultivate a passion for God by encouraging students to steward their minds and time to honor Him. We grow a love of truth by discovering, creating, and communicating with integrity. We grow a zeal to serve by equipping students to use their knowledge and gifts to bless others, both in-person and online.

We believe technology is for creation, not consumption, and so our approach is intentionally scaffolded. In early childhood, students learn primarily through hands-on exploration with limited or no device use. As they grow, digital tools are gradually introduced with thoughtful instruction on how to use them wisely, responsibly, and for meaningful purpose. By the upper grades, children are equipped to use it to research, collaborate, and design. Our program aims to prepare them to use technology in middle school and beyond responsibly.

As students graduate from Central, our prayer is that they will engage digital tools as thoughtful and faithful image-bearers of God in order to create with purpose, communicate with compassion, lead with empathy, and steward their digital lives to honor God and love others.

Partnership with Families

School-issued iPads stay on campus and are not brought home by students. If parents desire, learning can continue on family-owned devices through digital tools that allow students to discover and grow at home. We partner with families by providing subscriptions to high-quality, web-based resources that complement classroom instruction and foster independent learning. Programs such as IXL, XtraMath, and Reading A–Z offer individualized practice in math and literacy, while Google Workspace (G Suite) and the Apple Suite equip students with tools to collaborate on projects and assignments.

Annually, our apps and digital tools in use are thoughtfully reviewed by teachers and school leaders. Some apps are selected to continue the following year, some are eliminated, and new ones are sometimes added to enhance hands-on learning and move students closer to fulfilling our mission, vision, and Portrait of a Graduate.

We ask our students' parents to join us in developing responsible technology users, and all 4th-6th Grade students and parents sign a Technology Stewardship Agreement at the start of each school year.
