  Qualifications
  

  • A profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Personally affirm Central’s Statement of Faith
  • A member of a Bible-teaching Christian church
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education preferred
  • Certification in Gifted Education preferred
  • Experience working with gifted students and modifying standards and curriculum to meet students' needs
  • Two or more years of successful classroom experience, preferred

  Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate pull-out and push-in sessions for 3rd-6th Grade students enrolled in the Horizons program to foster critical- and creative-thinking, problem-solving, and affective skills, and enrichment beyond the homeroom classroom experience
  • Develop, implement, and update Advanced Learning Plans for each student in the Horizons (gifted education) program
  • Collaborate with homeroom teachers to provide extension opportunities within the general education classroom 
  • Foster strong relationships and communicate regularly with parents of Horizons students
  • Implement the following assessments annually: Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test, Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking, and Scales for Identifying Gifted Students 
  • Annually aggregate and review data, and facilitate the committee to identify gifted learners
  • Communicate identification procedures and findings with parents of prospective Horizons students
  • Remain current on best practices for gifted education design and implementation
  • Review and further develop the Horizons program design, objectives, curriculum, and practices

• Substitute Teacher

  We're hiring substitute teachers to teach as needed on a day-to-day basis. Prior teaching experience or training is welcome but not required. Opportunities to substitute are in our 3- and 4-year-old classrooms through 6th Grade, as well as in our specialist classes including Art, PE, Spanish, Music, Library, and Design Lab. Our teachers will prepare lesson plans for you to implement in their absence.
